Nanostructured Materials: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/journal/09659773 Nanostructured materials (NSM) are solids composed of structural elements (mostly crystallites) with a characteristic size of a few nanometres. According to the chemical composition, shape and dimensionality of their constituent structural elements, NSM may be classified into 12 groups as proposed by Gleiter [see Photograph], in a comprehensive review including preparation techniques, structures and properties of such materials.
Classification schema for NsM according to their chemical composition and the dimensionality shape) of the crystallites (structural elements) forming the NsM. Adapted from NANOSTRUCTURED MATERIALS: STATE OF TEIE ART AND PERSPECTIVES, H. Gleiter .
